Analysis of key aspects of scene one. Students began by recapping the definitions of key terms using the worksheet provided. This was followed by a whole class discussion of our first impressions of characters. Finally, students were allocated a group task which allowed them to independently analyse a key aspect of scene one. These tasks took approximately two lessons to complete.

Guided group task allowing students to explore key aspects of Scene 5 and 6. Half of the class were given the scene 5 worksheets and the other half, the Scene 6 worksheets. Both groups were given a worksheet (printed straight from the power point) with 4 key points to explore from their allocated scene, and some questions to develop their analysis further, before feeding back to the class. The power point also includes a slide with some notes which were typed onto the power point by one of the two groups.

A handy guide to writing PEEEE paragraphs. This can be used to help students respond to any literature question at KS3 and KS4 and it can be easily adapted to include sentence starters for the less-able.

Quick quiz on scene 4. 3. Guided discussion on Stella's role in the play. 4. Essay style question with model paragraph - students write their own paragraph and then peer assess. 5. Guided discussion on Blanche's evaluation of Stanley (which Stanley overhears). 6. Essay style question asking students to state how far they agree with Blanche's views - students spend time planning before writing one paragraph. 7. Indicative content shared. 8. Peer assess. 9. Students to complete one of the two essay questions for homework.

A summary of each Stave of A Christmas Carol, with key quotes and analysis easily distinguishable by colour. A great revision tool/classroom aid. I created this for my low-ability group in order to give them a good overview of the plot and some easily recognisable quotes for them to learn for their exam.

Lesson giving students an example of how writers 'show' rather than 'tell' their reader how their characters are feeling. A range of tasks giving students the opportunity to practice the skill at sentence level follows. Finally students use an image as a stimulus for a unique piece of writing.

Practice papers for each chapter of A Christmas Carol, written in the style of AQA specification. Some of the papers have RAG sheets with indicative content which can be used by teachers to quick mark or students to self/peer mark.

Step by step guide ‘Analysing and Comparing Poems – PEE guide’. 4. Full lesson on 'Bayonet Charge’ 5. A3 poetry grid for students to fill in as they go through the Anthology (allows students to summarise key points from the poems and keep as a revision tool).

KS3 poetry lessons. Lesson one asks students to assess their prior knowledge of poetic devices by using the attached RAG sheet and power point. Students then move on to explore the poem 'Love Is' by Allen Steble in more detail: they look at how metaphors and similes are used and spend some time learning about how to write an effective analysis of poetry. The lessons go on to explore a range of other poems which can be used to develop students unseen poetry skills.

Power Point presentation supporting the teaching of Plath's 'The Hanging Man'. Students explore imagery in the poem, annotate the poem together and consider the 'different interpretations' information on the final slides.

A lesson reminding students how to use apostrophes, with a final activity slide where students select a number for the teacher to click on, revealing an apostrophe related question. Students answered on mini white boards and held their answers up to reveal progress made.
