Oxidation of alcohols card sort

(0)
Card sort to encourage students to practice spotting the oxidation of primary and secondary alcohols into aldehydes and ketones. Card sort also includes the naming of the alcohols and the oxidation products. Suitable for courses involving the studying of oxidation of relatively straightforward alcohols such as Scottish CfE Higher chemistry curriculum. Within the card sort, there are also examples that are impossible to promote class discussion, such as carbons with 5 bonds; “OH” groups drawn incorrectly on full structural formulae. Also part of the resource is the powerpoint I use in the lesson with the card sort. Please note, pictures that I do not have permission to share have been removed from the powerpoint.
