Due to being very popular and great feedback, this resource is now available separately for £2, the rest of the resources will remain free :-) https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/world-war-1-lesson-1-how-did-it-start-11892114
After playing the game online and making notes, the children eventually either use the backdrop and act out a video diary, or make a postcard, or a detailed annotated sketch, or whatever else you fancy! 2 hours approx.
Lesson 1 is paid - 2GBP - and includes detailed lesson plans. I have detailed 6 lessons on the plans which take you through some key parts from the start of the war.
All the other resources are also available for free :-)
I have also added another 6 potential lessons objectives to complete a full term of work if you so wish.
Good luck,
Alex
The 2nd lesson from the sequence (see plans wk 1)
The first lesson, which includes the detailed plans for 6 weeks, is charged at 2GBP. Everything else is available thereafter for free.
I have made a sequence of 6 detailed lessons with resources. I also added 6 further lesson objectives to make a full term’s work if you wish to extend.

Another set of 8 writing practise sheets, increasing in difficulty from CVCC/CCVC up to 2 syllable and more. Themed by digraph sounds so can be used during sound introduction or as part of revision later. Each sheet comes with a couple of sets of support flashcards ready to print.
I made these sets for my class as we worked through the sounds last year. After whole class revision and sound input, they split into groups. These resources will go a long way towards your differentiated group sessions. Most are in sets which can be printed and cut to make sets to find and match and then later on there are writing opportunities as the HA children progress. I have 2 other sets of resources, also for sale, which can also be used after these.
A set of 14 writing practise sheets, gradually increasing in difficulty from CVC. Themed by letter sounds so can be used during sound introduction or as part of revision later. Each sheet comes with a couple of sets of support flashcards ready to print.
About the Schlieffen Plan. Quite hard concept, needs a lot of extra discussion. However, the children got really into it.

A nice physically active lesson, did this for OFSTED and they loved it.
