Snooker Maths challenge - Year 2-4 Problem Solving
This problem solving lesson is fantastic for children using arithmetic skills.
The lesson can easily be differentiated and works particularly well for a challenge with High Able children.
ACTIVITY
Children have to make an amount using different snooker balls based on the values
Red = 1, Yellow = 2, Green = 3, Brown = 4, Blue = 5, Pink = 6, Black = 7 (just like real snooker)
E.g - target = 10 …
Pink (6) and brown (4)
Blue (5) an Blue (5)
Red (1) x 10
High able- show them a video of a snooker match - what do you notice?? Players have to pot a red before a colour
Can you make different combinations of 20? Remember you have to pot a red first
E.G = Red (1), Blue (5),Red (1), Blue (5), Red (1), Black (7) = 20
