Three worksheets which require students to decode a hidden message using addition. They are designed for addition practice with added interest for grades 1-4. The hidden messages also provide an opportunity for discussion about the meaning of proverbs. The files are in PDF format. Coded Message Addition worksheet 1 uses addends from 0 to 21 with almost all addition problems adding on from a larger number and with the sum ranging from 1 to 26. The hidden message is "The early bird catches the worm". This would be suitable for Year 1 or Year 2. It might take 10-25 minutes to complete. Coded Message Addition worksheet 2 uses addends from 5 to 34 not always adding on from the larger number and with sums ranging from 24 to 49. The hidden message is "Never look a gift horse in the mouth." This would be suitable for Years 2 to 3. It might take 10-25 minutes to complete. Coded Message 3 uses addends from 10 to 120 with sums ranging from 124 to 149. The hidden message is "The best things are not bought or sold". This would be suitable for Years 3 to 4. This is a set of 4 worksheets in which students translate multiplication facts to division facts and vice versa. The resource is intended to assist students to consolidate their understanding of the relationship between multiplication and division. Each worksheet has ten multiplication facts to translate to division facts, and ten division facts to translate to multiplication facts. Worksheet 1: Translating a multiplication fact to a single division fact and vice versa, using 2x, 3x, 5x and 10x multiplication facts. Students do not need to solve the facts. Worksheet 2: As Worksheet 1, except the students are required to solve the facts (e.g. 5 x 2 = ?). Worksheet 3: Translating a multiiplication fact to two division facts, and a finding the related division fact and multiplication fact to a division fact (e.g. 6 / 2 = 3 --> 6 / 3 = 2 --> 2 x 3 = 6). Note the worksheets contain the proper division symbol. Worksheet 4: As Worksheet 2, except the students are required to solve the facts. Each worksheet will take around 5-20 minutes to complete depending on students' ability levels.

This is a presentation on the elements of the visual arts, i.e. line, shape, colour, texture, value, form and space. It is suitable for Year 3 onwards. Two worksheets are included. A lesson could comprise of exploring the presentation as a class followed by individual work using worksheets in which students use their new knowledge. The presentation is in both PPT (MS Powerpoint) and PDF format. As well as a description of each element, it includes many visual examples of the elements including colour examples of the elements as used by well-known artists. At the end are some web links to follow for more material on art and the elements of art. The presentation has 22 pages and might take up to 30 minutes to view and explore. There are two worksheets with this resource. The first is for younger or less able students in which they choose three of the elements and draw examples of each. The second is for older or more able students who draw an artwork using the elements and write an explanation of how they have used each element in their artwork.
