DRAMA NON PARTICIPANT WORKBOOK / NON PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES

(6)
I have been working on this resource for the last year on and off and it is used for students for any of the following reasons: 1 - removal from lesson 2 - unable to participate practically 3 - isolated students ( taken from lesson) 4 - room changes ( for exams etc to a desk based space) especially last minute ones. 5 - when students are off school and parents request work ( brilliant as it can be emailed and there is no reason why it cannot be done on line) 6 - emergency cover for non specialists or people who panic when they are given a drama cover The booklet is 38 pages and each page is a stand alone activity for them to do. It is designed for them to do without your input ( ideal for removal - DT etc) The booklet features various work, questions, word search activities, design activities and can be used from yr 7-9.Templates are provided for written work as well as drawing / design tasks, so this really is an ideal booklet to send with the student who cannot work in your room. It features work on: character - role work costume design make up design risk assessment / H&S melodrama storyboards and other activities. Use this booklet as either a printed resource, or if you have little budget; project the activity on the board and students can complete it on paper.

(1)
This resource is an introduction to devising for the component 2 ( devising) section of the new GCSE. it features: 3 PowerPoints. 1 - introduction to devising 2 - writing devising log - details and includes the writing frame and marking criteria from the spec. 3 - actual stimulus for students to explore - featuring images, poetry ( from Black Roses) and music. Please note that the students have copies of black roses and the image is for illustration purposes only. Music tracks are MP3 tracks and all rights belong to the artists. 1 writing frame: This writing frame has been developed from the new specification and is in line with the features of the exemplar work provided by AQA. The questions provided are to support weaker students who would struggle to meet the criteria. The grading will be developed from their responses. Lesson 3 can be delivered as 4 individual lessons with the stimulus shown individually. Or alternatively to support students whilst exploring other stimulus. Feel free to adapt the resource from this, hence it's low price.

AQA GCSE DRAMA EXAM PREPARATION SECTION A

(1)
These powerpoints have been created to cover the section A content of the GCSE AQA Drama exam paper. There is coverage of theatre roles ( using the AQA guidance and terminology) as well as quize questions on blood brothers and section A. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE BLOOD BROTHERS QUIZ IS NOT BEING CHARGED FOR - THIS IS A QUIZ COMBINED FROM COLLEAGUES IN ENGLISH AND I CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT IT IS INDIVIDUAL WORK - SO FOR THAT REASON I HAVE INCLUDED IT BUT NOT CONSIDERED THIS WHEN PRICING. (hence £2.00 for this set of powerpoints) These can be edited to suit your pupils and the positives and negatives are to be edited according to discussion from your groups. Approaching section B will be uploaded shortly. These can be used for lessons and revision quizes, or alternatively ( as i have ) for independent revision as well. The first powerpoint is a timeline for my groups but features interleaving of key content ( a great way to ensure recall and understanding maintains near the front of pupils’ minds)

ASSESSMENT WITHOUT LEVELS IN DRAMA

(10)
A simple assessment framework for pupils and staff without the use of levels. I designed this to use with KS3 as we are moving towards AWOL. You will notice that in the details box at the bottom, I have included a level equivalency for pupils. This I am currently using for assessment while we move toward AWOL. Pupils have their own copy of this and have to demonstrate examples of work for each area. I am moving to them videoing / photographing their work and uploading evidence to the VLE to show progress and understanding. Those who move into the purple criterion will receive awards / badges for being 'drama experts'. These are kept in students folders alongside their learning logs which they complete each lesson. The levels include some specific literacy targets, to keep them in line with exam boards and support English.

BTEC Performing Arts Tech Award Component 1 BLOOD BROTHERS EXPLORATION

(0)
Here you will find the first 5 powerpoints and some supporting documents for using Blood Brothers in BTEC Performing Arts Tech Award L1/2. The powerpoints are NOT lessons for a scheme of work - but are instead a series of 5 sessions which the students participate in to explore the text. The are designed to help draw links between Brecht and the performance, as well as the different roles within a prodcution and how these link together. I have included the Lyrics for the card sort activity - but these are typed from the script - the price DOES NOT INCLUDE these as they are not my work. ( but for convenience i have attached the word documents) YOU WILL REQUIRE your own scripts - extracts for exploration. This set of 5 activities is priced very low compared to some of the material provided out there - this is because it is not fully complete and further workshops / powerpoints will be created to compliment this text exploration. Further explorations will include: Too Much Punch for Judy The Woman in Black The Crucible (The next powerpoint will be uploaded by December 20th in preparation for commencement in January) I hope these are useful -

Curious Incident of the Dog in The Night Time BTEC introduction scheme Component 1

(0)
This scheme of work was designed for unit 1 of level 2 BTEC performing arts tech award. It is a practical exploration of the text and looks at the way that Frantic Assembly developed ideas and the skills required for this type of work. There are 7 activities / sessions which would then lead to pupils performing a scene to an audience - usually i would take about 4 lessons at the end - to give them more of a practical understanding of the work. I have not added powerpoints as you can do this as and when you like - the assessment objectives are linked to the criteria throughout the session and homework which supports the understanding of component 1 work created. My group create a guide using the information developed. The plot line has been obtained from elsewhere and is not mine - so i have credited the source but discounted my sale price to account for this not being mine. ( it is freely available though)

EAL RESOURCES FOR DRAMA - introduction to drama - set 1 ( more to follow)

(0)
Having taught drama for quite a long time, I always thought I was really good at EAL, however following further research and collaboration I have focused heavily on my EAL provision and created these EAL or VERY weak literacy support resources for KS3 drama. With this pack I have provided 6 resources which can be used with a TA or without. Ideal as starter activities or as differentiated activities when the rest of the class are working on something text based which might not be accessible to your pupils. This pack can have images matched to your powerpoint for ease of understanding and with the second set of resources - due out in October - the more advanced language will be covered to help ease understanding for weaker pupils or those with English as a second language. Please let me know how you get on. All of the EAL resources I will be releasing will be priced at the same cost. Watch out for set 2 in October and set 3 in November.

Drama teacher's marking mat - NO WRITTEN FEEDBACK NEEDED ;-)

This marking mat, is meant for teacher use as well as student. It can allow marking to be done using numbers and codes rather than hand written comments. Perfect for developing consistency across multi staff departments and ensuring that students can read the comments easily. On the reverse of the mat there is key vocabulary as well as some key sentence starters for students when developing their work and responding to feedback. This has allowed me to mark a full set of books in less than 20 minutes while still ensuring that students get accurate and consistent feedback. ENJOY the extra time you will get back!

This is a logbook I have devised to support teaching Drama at KS3. At the start of KS3, students complete a baseline test and then as you work your way through your lessons the logbook supports students and teacher. It's based upon various versions I have encountered and thank those of you who have inputted. There is a grid for students to log their progress and set target. Feedback pages allow the teacher to write in the logbook. It is the first draft and may change slightly over the next year. These logbooks don&'t go home, homework will be completed separately.

It has been a work in progress for the last year with this current format being used successfully. It allows pupils to self assess and it also allows parents to see the skills you are covering with their children. I have included the grid for yr 7&8 and have also provided a little guidance on how to apply it. If you have any questions about this and its application please do not hesitate to contact me.
