Multiplying and dividing decimals code breaker

(13)
Activity designed for my top set year 7 class. Range of questions on multiplying and dividing decimals. When they find the answer they cross it off in the grid. The numbers remaining can be used to find the missing letters. EQ stands for extension question. They will need to do the extension question to find this letter. Hope this is useful to you!

Pythagoras - Charlotte's Web

(1)
Introduces Pythagoras Theorem. Main part of the lesson involves calculating missing side lengths on a number of connected triangles (looks a bit like a spider web). Context is a spider web which needs fixing. By finding the missing side lengths, students can help 'Charlotte' fix her web. Also includes two real life examples which can be used as a plenary. First one is a ladder against a wall. Second one is the Eiffel Tower. Learning Objectives : What students should achieve by the end of the lesson (WALT – we are learning to) • Identify right angled triangles • Use knowledge of Algebra in other topics e.g. substitution, solving equations • Learn Pythagoras Theorem and be able to use it Learning Outcomes : (WILF – what I’m looking for) • All students will/must : Be able to use Pythagoras Theorem to find the hypotenuse of a right angled triangle given the opposite and adjacent measurements. • Most students will/should : Be able to use Pythagoras to find any side of a right angled triangle given • Some students will/could: Be able to solve real life problems using Pythagoras Theorem and identify where it can be used. Have a good understanding of the proof behind Pythagoras theorem.

Adapted this resource from the pirate game. This is a nice end of term activity. Includes one for higher and one for foundation. Quite easy to change or add questions yourself.
