This was created for Year 3, but could be adapated by Year 2 or Year 4 easily. Contained in the pack are differentiated levels, so you are able to tailor the mini booklet to your children. Focus on similes, improving an existing piece of writing, planning and writing own story based on what has been heard. Each child will need their own booklet photocopied. The story to read is at the end of the pack.

This is a full resource to support teaching of the Read Write Inc programme. It contains sounds and a daily timer for checking sounds. With smartnotebook you can adjust this of course. Each section of the story is included, including prompts for spelling, grammar and writing. Some slides have interactivity, there are instructions in the corner of the slide instructing what to click if this is the case.

Smartnotebook resource created to make following the Read Write Inc sequence of lessons easier for those people new to the scheme. The sheets follow Look, cover, say, write and check, so no marking for you! Good feedback from parents too, who find them easy to follow. Resources to support Read Write Inc presented as a smartnotebook. I selected and created words containing a phoneme each day to flick through - both real and alien words. The book introduction is there and materials to support spelling. Some of the slides are interactive - little instructions in the corner tell you what to click on to make things appear or disappear. Sadly, this is not quite complete - so I am providing it as a free resource!

Pack of spellings. These were created for a Year 3 class, who needed rapid intervention, however would also be suitable for Year 2. Just add the date and they are ready to print out. Parents like these sheets, as it is clear how often they are expected to practise, and there is space on the sheet for them to do it. No marking required, as children self check at home!

This is a complete creative writing unit designed to last 2 weeks, and includes work on grammar as well as taking children through a planning process to then create their own writing. The booklet provided you will need to look through, as some pages are differentiated, and you will need to decide which to give certain children.

Many children still view maths as 'hard', and it is really the parents' views that need to be addressed. Fully editable Maths Trail for you to add in details about your school. Even better if you can replace some photographs for photographs of the local area to you. Upload to your school's website, encourage EYFS parents to take it home, run a launch and 'walk the trail' with parents. Remind parents that they use maths everyday to work out a good offer at the shop, or get the correct change. They tell the time to decide when to leave home to collect their children! Enjoy :)

It is incredibly useful for the new class teacher to have all the information in one place regarding your current class. With time always tight and with this in hand, you can devote more time to discussing where the class are regarding curriculum needs. Complete information for children with individual education or learning plans, medical or health care, EAL, behaviour, other information you feel is pertinent or sensitive. I have left some generic ideas in the table - fully editable as always.

Simple step by step introduction to using some word processing features in Smart Notebook with Y2 children. Could be adapted to use with other year groups depending on their prior wordprocessing experience. Creates a firework visual poem using onomatopoeic words.

Enthuse your class to read with a bit of healthy competition! Put the children into groups and type their names down the left hand side. Decide how often you are going to check the children's reading record books, even better, get a trusty classroom monitor to do it. Record a star against the child's name. The team with the most stars at the end of the time gets a fantastic prize! Could be a prize money can't buy... :)
