PETS and FARM ANIMALS _ with native voice over
Foundation lesson to learn some pets and farm animals in French and introduce genders using ‘un’ (masculine nouns) and ‘une’ (feminine nouns) for ‘a/an’.
Eg: un chien = a dog / une vache = a cow

Powerpoint lesson: learn the name of 12 pets and farm animals, with a particular focus on pronunciation (phonics, silent letters), thanks to interactive listening and speaking activities facilitated by a native voice over, and a variety of fun speaking games to encourage memorisation.
The Powerpoint lesson also includes a ‘grammar slide’ to introduce the use of genders in French using ‘un’ and ‘une’ as well as a link to an interactive listening game created on Wordwall.

3 adapted worksheets to support and assess the learning:
. Higher ability: label the 12 animals pictures using a bank of words provided, then circle the masculine nouns in blue and the feminine nouns in red.
. Middle ability: similar task with some animals already labelled and colour coded.
. Lower ability: match up the animals pictures and nouns then circle the masculine nouns in blue and the feminine nouns in red.
Total teaching time: 1 to 2 hours.
