I notice my low set KS4 really could make more progress in Chem if they could grasp word equations…So hence this! These resources are my ppt (which is culled from TES and heavily edited to be directed specifically to writing word equations, in year 10 and 11; a Y8 Worksheet directly culled from here and I’ve added an answer section in bold. To fit the new AQA C1.4.1 and C1.4.2 specs all covered. Aimed at bottom set year 10's, with room for some optimistic outcomes.
Desigend to be used with the old textbook pages that cover C1a 3.1 & 3.2 (pages 168-171 of the 'old' AQA orange core science book).
Adapted from various material and SoW suggestions of other people's so that info is now in 'quiz'/CLOZE form (great for getting the basics into their books I find).
Final activity is to design a drink drive poster, using info from the DfT site, after watching a DfT ad.

Made this because no one seemed to have uploaded one designed to hit one lesson.
Aimed at the new AQA Chem C1.1.3 'Chemical Reactions' to get across the idea of balanced equations.
Also could easily be used with bright y9 group for similar I think.
Slides 11-15 are designed as a prior explanation linking: Outer Shell with Periodic Groups and Why Elements Make Bonds and Using the Periodic Table to Predict How Many Bonds an Element will Make!! (it was a needed resource to 'pull together' what they had been learning into a complete whole....the ppt to go with the worksheet

Just a simple written summary of the bare basics needed for OCR Spec (F324 2013-2016)
I couldn't find one so I made one.
Good as a precursor & reference to use in first lessons on NMR as well.

Designed originally as an online session that has worked very well, this is a step by step guide taking students from the basic principles to consideration of proton environments up to shifts, working out where they would go, and moving on to interpreting spectra from the OCR 2016 Example Materials. Culled from various resources including my own, with comprehensive answers.
Covers everything except integration/ratio of protons, but you can introduce this aspect quite well as you go along I think.
AQA specs, with some bits left as gaps for the students to fill as they revise and check the topic, also spaces for them to write examples of things like rearranging equations.
Also, general tightened up and energising of the language, rephrased for better understanding etc.
Atom Structure, Periodicity, Moles, Mass, Conc & Vol & Balancing Formulae, ions & Equations & History.
Again I attempt to create a revision resource firmly linked to the much maligned and misunderstood and insufficiently revisited Periodic Table.
This resource should be good for AS GCE and GCSE students.

AQA Spec sheet with some editing - rephrasing for clarity, addition of mol and concentration triangles and clearer formulae, and also addition of chemical equations as examples in places.

We often show pupils to use triangles to solve problems in maths and science classic example being D/ST. Why not teach your pupilshow to construct triangles independently for any x/y relationship? Then they can confidently solve a huge range of problems from first principles, with very few errors?
That’s the thinking behind this resource, which is limited and predominantly aimed at [F] type students. Get the pupils to actually think about what the units are, and construct a triangle based on that, because then they can do it for any similar question, and that will cover many, many maths and science questions. Instead of them just memorising three or four separate triangles, they can insteadunderstandhow to make their own. . It could be extended to Chemistry A Level particularly usefully as well - and also used to discuss unitary analysis as a means of checking the potential validity of answers
'Can Loo Roll Fly?' Is how I presented it to my Y8.
So instead of teabags, we used one sheet of loo paper
Watch the you tube clip you'll get the idea.
The I showed the clip, showed them how to glue a sheet of loo paper into a cylinder, and lit it got them to see if they could do the same. BUT a sheet of 2-ply won&'t fly! Can they make one that flies?
!! NOTE: Make sure you use TWO PLY TISSUE that can be EASILY separated into one play....as this is the only way it will &';fly'!!

PERIODIC TABLE & BONDING.
Mar 2019 Updated with a new simpler total revision of bond types which could be a display for both F and H students.
The periodic Table is our map, yet students are afforded very little time and we come back infrequently to review it. Here is the periodic table as it correlates to the bonding syllabus, with a complete separate table dealing with ALL aspects of GCSE bonding. May also be useful for A-Level recap. First of a series I hope to produce.
