KS3 Baseline Assesment: Design and Technology

(32)
Here is my Baseline assessment that I have introduced to KS3. I use the assessment with Y7 - Y9 and did give it to my Y11 to test it. The results where eye-opening just before the final exam!! I give this to the entire Y7 as soon as they enter school and then again at the end of the year to help gauge progress. I have found it extremely effective. As always welcome any comments or suggestions. If you alter it and create another would you mind sharing ? I eventually hope to get an assessment for Y8 and Y9 running in the same way.

Here is my interactive tracking sheet for homework, theory assessment and practical assessment. There is a guide on the first tab of the excel file. I welcome any comments or suggested improvements you have. The workbooks are locked so staff can not alter the multiple hidden columns feel free to unlock them if you need to. If you issue this to your staff I would lock them down with a password or you will spend hours trying to find out what they have altered !!

The booklets below are all your students need to evidence the AQA ELC in RM. I have used these for many years and never had anything but praise from AQA. To help you decipher the booklets bear in mind the following. Unit one - I make a key ring by hand and one on the laser. Unit two - you have no need to make anything. Unit seven- I make a box with a butt joint, lap joint, finger joint and dovetail joint on the corners. Fasten a hardboard bottom and a plastic lid, then engrave the lid on the laser. Unit 8 - I make an acrylic stand to hold an iPod or MP3 player on a desk.
