I have compiled a large powerpoint with all of the teaching slides I used to teach English through the book of ‘Trash’ by Andy Mulligan. Included are reading and writing based lesson objectives as well as grammar tasks which also link to the text. I have also added in dictations which are linked to the text to aid with learning the Year 6 word list.
I have created this large resource for use with Emma Carroll’s Letter’s from the Lighthouse. The PowerPoint contains 175 slides and is intended for daily English teaching for Year 6 aged pupils. There are a large range of Year 6 lesson objectives relating to reading, writing, grammar and spelling which all link directly to the text.
Resource using Literacy Shed video ‘Alma’ to aid children’s descriptive writing. I made this for use with my Year 6 class and they absolutely loved it.
For World Book Day this year, our school will all be focusing on the book ‘The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore’. I have created a powerpoint of 5 main English activities, 5 Good Morning Grammar activities and 5 Guided Reading activities. The activities are intended to be used from Reception to Year 6 and can be adapted to suit each year group where relevant. Included in the powerpoint is the 15 minute animation of the book from You Tube.
Notes under each slide are to help teachers.
This resource is for use in a Key Stage 2 Spelling Bee.
The power point includes key words and spelling patterns from the National Curriculum.
Pupils are told the word verbally and then have to write it down on a white board, they then show their answer. Scores are recorded separately. To engage the pupils watching the Spelling Bee take place there is a participation sheet. The highest scoring pupil in each class also receives a certificate.
Resource for writing with Year 6. This is a really engaging clip and the children were extremely motivated to write. It covers the Year 6 objective of using dialogue to advance action.
