A collection of 25 slides designed to stimulate interesting conversations within the classroom. I use these very often at a start of lessons as a means of engaging students. How do I justify using these completely random topics in lessons you ask? I use these questions to start a conversation between groups of students, I then ask students to justify their decisions. Through this process they improve their ability to reason and support their arguements with different lines of reasoning. I believe this kind of question in the classroom was termed a ‘thunk’ by Ian Gilbert who wrote a full book of them.

I have added to the original collection of thunks (and I made a student do some). The file now contains 42 slides designed to stimulate interesting conversations within the classroom.
