The Logo Game - first version. A logo game containing 30 images for all ages 11 - 16 years. A fun starter or plenary activity to play and engage students. I designed this powerpoint to teach my Y7 low ability set how to find the volume of triangular prisms (need calculators). It worked extremely well and students enjoyed the challenge - especially when the answers cam out as long decimals. The worksheet contains some converting questions from cm to m - be sure to teach metric conversions first. Students have to answer simplifying/expanding questions and then find the letter in the table to spell out the words. They then have to use dictionaries/iPads/computers to look up the definitions of these words. Answers: Perseverance Tenacious Accomplished

This is a PowerPoint I used to introduce rearranging expressions to my Year 9 class. It is very straight forward and adaptable if you wish to change any of it. I also printed out A4 pages of 'x', '-1', '=' and 'y' and I chose three students to come up to the front of the class and they had to rearrange themselves to make x the subject. I also had '+1' printed on an A4 page. The class all discussed different options and enjoyed the practical.

This can be used as a fun activity during class to test students' understanding of expanding single and double brackets. I use it for KS3 and KS4 students.

Students write out their goals and aspirations which they see themselves achieving in 5 years time. They need to list key skills they will need (trigonometry for construction, being able to deal with money for a cashier job) and things which will help them along the way (i.e. concentrating in class, completing all homework). This is a nice activity for tutor time and I have used it with Y9, Y10 and Y11.
