AQA GCSE GERMAN 2026 HIGHER TIER SPEAKING BOOKLET - Student Friendly
This adaptable word booklet (including model answers) is for the new AQA German GCSE 8662 specification (first exams in 2026). It is a student-friendly document which explains the different elements of the speaking exam in detail. For HIgher Tier students only. Separate Foundation Tier version available here.
The booklet explains each part of the new speaking exam: Role Play, Read Aloud and follow- up questions, Photo card response and unprepared conversation.
Each section contains
an explanation
mark scheme guidance
model answers
general advice and tips
example question(s) for students to prepare themselves
There is a table of contents and a glossary at the end.
Note: This booklet contains excerpts from the AQA German GCSE SAMS 1 Teacher Booklet.
UPDATE: AQA have recently rolled back the marking guidance with regard number of pieces of information needed in the photocard and also specifying number of errors in the read aloud markscheme. However, I think it is still good practice to prepare students to give lots of information in the photocard and aim for as few errors as possible in the read aloud so have left this in the booklet.
All feedback gratefully received.
