Focusing on a short extract from The Dragon and Saint George this Guided Reading resource looks at the impact the language has on the reader.
The resource comprises a lesson plan linked to reading domains, a word activity (starter), a PEE chart (point, example, explain), a sheet of questions with marks and domains indicated.
It is ideal for children working at National Standard or moving towards Greater Depth in their reading comprehension.
The extract starts at the beginning of The Dragon and Saint George and ends at ‘It was just that they got all the bad publicity.’
This is a Smart Notebook presenting the weather with the words for reading and writing.
The sheet with the pictures with words on is designed to be used for team games so each child has a picture and word for listen and respond activities. It can also be used to support the children when they are writing sentences in Spanish.
There is a tally chart which I used with Early Start Spanish, but if you do not have this DVD then you can use the same idea with whatever video clip you can find.
The seasons is an extension on the theme.
A smart board prepared with the colours for drilling (listen / repeat) plus a song and some games.
Aimed at KS1 but with the word cards and cards with colours, it could use in lower KS2 with more reading involved.
Note - this does not have a sound recording you will have to be able to say the colours in Spanish!
