A 6 week booklet and powerpoint to help students improve their knowledge of basic spelling rules. During each session, students are introduced to a spelling rule then are provided with two tasks to familiarise themselves with the rule. Their main task is to complete a ‘Look, Cover, Check’ style activity. During the end of the session, students will have a spelling test, which is to be completed at the back of the booklet. The spelling rules are basic but it provides a foundation that all students could access. The accompanying powerpoint includes a step-by-step outline for students and teacher and all task answers.

An excellent powerpoint with answers catered to high school students and all abilities. There are 5 rounds in total. All fun and engaging. :) The perfect last lesson idea before half term. Logistics Overview: Round 1: Spelling Pumpkins You will be given eight words to spell. You must correctly fill in the blanks. You must score at least 4/8 to participate to the next round. Round 2: Anagrams You will be given six anagrams to unscramble, all of which are classic Halloween fancy dress ideas. You must score at least 3/6 to progress to the next round. Round 3: Left or Right? All participants have to choose the correct spelling (left or right). You must score at least 6/12 to participate to the next round. Round 4: Correct or Incorrect? All participants will be given 10 words one at a time. You have to decide if each word is spelt correctly. You must score at least 8/10 to participate to the final round. Final Round: Quick Fire To reach this far, is legendary in itself. The top 5 spellers have to complete the quick fire round. If you misspell a word, you are out. We keep spelling until we have a winner!
