This resource is a choice-based task mat built around the real-life story of Punch the macaque, focusing on empathy, kindness, belonging, and media literacy. It includes a range of short, purposeful tasks such as: • descriptive writing (one powerful moment) • reflective writing about kindness • discussion and analysis of belonging and acceptance • a media literacy task linked to the IKEA advert • creative tasks (drawing and design) The tasks are designed to encourage emotional understanding, critical thinking, and pupil voice, with optional sentence starters to support learners who need them. Best suited to Second Level / P7, but tasks can be adapted for other stages or used as discussion starters.
