This lesson examines the reasons why peasants rebelled in 1381 looking at long and short term factors. The lesson includes a number of opportunities to develop literacy and thinking skills. There is a brief literacy settler task followed by two further literacy tasks which secure pupils understanding of key vocabulary to be used in the lesson. This is followed with some Q&A discussion about money values at the time of the revolt then by a card sort task where pupils take on board the role of peasants and gauge on the thinking continuum how they would think/feel with law/tax that was introduced. The lesson concludes with pupils writing their top reason down on a plenary pass.

Source based enquiry that looks at three different viewpoints of Richard III and encourages pupils to evaluate the evidence critically, eventually leading to a class debate and extended written outcome linked to GCSE grades. The lesson includes analysis of video clips, a fun and collaborative sketching activity and structured group discussion. A lesson plan is also attached to accompany the presentation.

Lesson that uses a series of powerful images to get students thinking about various types of segregation and to consider the effects these would have had on African-Americans and the push for better rights especially in education. Presentation with four worksheets that can be used sequentially. The images can be printed and stuck up around a classroom and students can complete worksheet 1.2 as they study the images.

Exam paper modelled around AQA paper 1 (8145d) with the topics 'America opportunity and inequality' in Section A and Korea/Vietnam in Section B. It is accompanied with an in-depth mark scheme - useful as a practice test paper in class or mock exam.

Formative tests designed to be used every couple of weeks to help students develop and consolidate their knowledge and understanding of topics for the new 9-1 GCSE History. Each takes about 10-15 minutes to complete and the answer sheets are provided. They can also be photocopied back to back and used as flash cards for revision purposes. The tests cover the AQA 8145D opportunity and inequality in America 1920-73 topic and comprise tests for the pre-war content.

The powerpoint presentation provides a starter activity which includes plotting America's gradual involvement in the war on a graph which shows unemployment figures. This is followed by some video based questions on lend-lease which is then consolidate through a card sort task which pupils stick in their exercise books. Pupils then apply their knowledge and understanding by answering a 12 mark AQA essay type question on the role of the war in America's economic recovery. The lesson is planned to provide pupils with the information they need but to allow them the opportunity to apply their knowledge and show progress within their written work over a couple of lessons.

AQA style history exam paper written for Year 9 to meet the assessment objectives of the new 9-1 GCSE (History World/Period studies paper 8145D). The accompanying mark grid can also be used to generate a 9-1 grade based on the mark given. The grade boundaries have been derived from AQA's exemplar mark-schemes/level descriptors.

Lesson that uses a card sort activity and sources to look at the reasons for prohibition. It encourages pupils to develop knowledge of a range of different reasons why prohibition was introduced and evaluate/infer the messages from key sources on prohibition.

Mark scheme derived from exemplar markschemes published by AQA. As there is no guidance on boundaries these have been calcuated from current exemplar markschemes for 8145D. My departments has used these and found them to be reasonably accurate for assessing pupils' performance and useful for data collection points.

Russian revolution source assessment modelled around AQA Q1-3 on 8145D section A questions. The worksheet includes two interpretations and a range of tasks that allow students to access the sources and then use the answers from these to formulate a good quality response to these three source evaluation questions. The worksheet is scaffolded to support and develop the analysis of both sources effectively. Used with my groups to great effect and clear evidence of progress from start to finish.
