On desk English and Maths support resources - IKEA Tolsby frames

(1)
28 sections (4 to a page) of resources to support your children in their English and Maths work. Sections include: - Year 3/4 and 5/6 statutory word list words - homophones to check - words when you need to use apostrophes for contraction - co-ordinating and subordinating conjunctions - punctuation types - fronted adverbials - the 6 step writing process - times table square - bodmas - rucsac There are more English resources than maths, as extra sections I have in mine (such as fraction walls) I do not have copyright to share. To use these, you need IKEA Tolsby frames and rings. Simply laminate and cut out, then hole punch the tops and use the rings to attach to the frame. This way the children have multiple resources in one space. These are a great resource, and well thumbed in my classroom (Year 6)! These do not get in the way of the 'independence' needed in Year 6 writing, as the children have to independently choose to utilise them.

Word Of The Day display

A set of 72 words to use as a 'word of the day' in class. Designed with Year 6 in mind to help with the word meaning aspect of reading and to increase the range of vocabulary used in written work. Children have the challenge to use the dictionary to look up the meaning of the word (another NC objective) and then write it into a sentence. Also includes a backing sheet to stick the words onto each day.

Level Up Your Learning Display

This is a resource put together after a CPD session. In it was discussed how expecting big jumps in improvement in learning can seem huge, but if you give children small jumps to make, it is more manageable. The levels in this pack were designed by my Year 6 class, so the wording is totally theirs! I have also included an editable version of the desk chart, that you can adapt for your own class. I have the A4 posters on the wall and the long desk chart stuck to their tables. My kiddos usually put a rubber or glue stick on the level that they think they are at/ want to be at! It is a really great tool, as all I now have to say to individuals is, 'what level is your learning', and they check themselves and 'level up'!. In the pack there are 2 versions of the A4 wall posters (black background and white background) and 2 versions of the desk chart (plus the editable version). Desk charts are printed on A3.

Weekly Timetable

This year I tried out displaying the whole week’s timetable, rather than just the day. My class loved it, and has also helped them to become more organised with what they need, and remembering the ‘best bits’ of the week! Bright and colourful, this set comes with over 100 lesson labels (some are repeated for easy printing) plus the days of the week to head up the days!

Donut Worry - SATs motivation!

(1)
If you’re looking for a ‘punny’ way to treat your Year 6 class before SATs, this is perfect! While testing can, unfortunately, be stressful for both children and adults, we can give our class a sweet treat for extra motivation (not quite healthy schools, but…!) This FREE note pack contains two sides (4 cards per page) - one being a weekend ‘homework’ for the children e.g. rest, go for a walk, play your favourite game, laugh and smile! I print, match up, laminate and attach to a little bag holding a doughnut! Yum!

Help your children check their work!

Who else has been annoyed when, upon being told to check their work, a child proceeds to flick though and declare their work thoroughly checked?! These bookmarks show three levels of checking to help pupils know how to check their work. I have them laminated and stuck on each pupils table so that they can always see them!
