Speed Sounds Set 2 (Read Write Inc) Word Frames

(1)
I have developed these for my SEN class to reinforce vowel digraphs and trigraphs, but could easily be used for mainstream Key Stage 1 to reinforce phonics. I introduce them during our (adapted) Read Write Inc sessions and then the children work on them independently in their Bays as a TEACCH task. The base cards can be presented to the children separately or laminated and put together as a Folder Task. As the first stage I printed the word frames with just the vowel di/trigraphs missing then when the children were confident filling them in I presented them with the frames with all the letters missing and the different sounds on separate laminated cards. As an extension the children could be given the blank frames to write the letters in themselves. If the sheets are laminated they can use a white board pen and the cards used over and over again.

2, 5, 10 Times Tables "Four In A Row" Game

This is a great way to practise times tables whilst having fun! I’ve made several of these, of different tables, for children I tutor and they love them, especially if they beat me! You need to print off a base board and set of cards for each game. I have suggested that you use different coloured card for each game as it’s then easier to know which set of cards goes with each base board. (I have one set of “green” cards which I then use with whichever game I am playing; I haven’t printed a new set for each game.) If you laminate the base board, you can then use dry-wipe pens when playing or you could use counters. To Play: Put the 2 sets of cards in separate piles. Player 1 picks up a yellow and a green card and multiples them together. They then find that number on the board and circle it. Player 2 then has their turn in the same way. The first person to get a straight line of 4 wins!

Fraction/Percentage/Decimal Trumps Game

(0)
A simple Trumps Card Game comparing the value of fractions (pictorial and numerical, percentages and decimals. To Play: deal out all the cards face down. All the players reveal their top card at the same time. The person with the highest value wins all the cards in that round. Play can continue either until one person has all the cards, or for a shorter version, once everyone has played all their original hand, and the winner being the one with the most cards. A great game when learning about equivalents and parts of a whole.

Flowers Missing Numbers

(0)
A flower-themed printable resource to help children practise missing numbers. There are pages with all the numbers in place, pages with a selection of missing numbers and sheets of the missing numbers. It can be used in a variety of ways: the sheets with numbers missing can be printed and completed by writing the digits in or the sheets can be laminated and the missing numbers placed in the correct spaces by Velcro. This was designed to be used in my SEN class, laminated and using Velcro. I introduced it as a 1:1 maths activity and then the children practised it independently in their Bays as TEACCH tasks.
