I created this to reduce marking time - it definitely has and is easily editable with DIRT tasks whilst still providing opportunity for personal and quality feedback for students.
An intro lesson used with Year 7 to reflect upon what mediation is and why it is used within Buddhism. I do a 15/20 'mindfulness' session with students so that they can reflect upon how 'useful' it could be. Conclusive summary enables students to demonstrate their k&u of the lesson.
Here is a complete SOW, with resources fully planned and ready to teach. I have not simply adapted old resources, all lessons have been planned according to the guidance (what little there is!) of the new specification. There are opportunities for assessment and there is different question types and mark schemes embedded through-out the SOW. I have included notes at the bottom of the slides for how I envisage I will teach it, but as with any lesson, your ideas of how to deliver might be different. There are links for all videos on where appropriate - I have now updated the market place resources with relevant article / video links and the card sort.
This took me a lot of hours, so any feedback would be appreciated! :)
This provides 8 booklets to cover the full specification of Edexcel Spec B (Christianity and Buddhism).
The booklets include:
Living the Buddhist Life
Living the Christian Life
Christian Beliefs
Buddhist Beliefs
Marriage and Family - Christianity
Matters of Life and Death - Christianity
Peace and Conflict - Buddhism
Crime and Punishment - Buddhism
Fully editable and applicable to the equivilent AQA specs. References to ‘The Learning Scientists’ study methods included.
REDUCE TEACHER WORK LOAD and still provide high quality feedback for all students!
Can be used in a number of ways but I have used it to inform DIRT lessons and have provided all students in class with a copy of the feedback.
Used with Year 8 looking at how the idea of Karma and Reincarnation affects the lives of Hindu believers. The concept or the caste system is explored with some great opportunities for high order thinking!
With the KS4 GCSE RS, my students often find it a real challenge to apply Islamic quotes to their exam answers. This worksheet provides students with a summary of key quotes and students use this by interpreting the quotes and relating it to specific topics in order to inform revision.
Here are the resources and scheme of work needed to teach the ‘Buddhist Beliefs’ section of the Edexcel new spec RS GCSE. Totally transferrable to AQA too. Having now taught this Scheme of Work, I think some of the language of complex (but necessary) and may need to be simplified for your class. I have tried to plan this using a range of activity ideas and resources and as far as possible, have included the relevant worksheets / articles / links etc within the PPTs or SOW. If there is anything missing or you need clarification please do get in touch and I will be happy to help!
Here are a range of resources for the whole of this unit with worksheets and everything needed. I have not produced a 'scheme of work' yet but these have been produced from the Edexcel and Aqa schemes of work. All links were correct and working at the time of posting.
This is a full unit of work provided for the Living the Buddhist Life - fully applicable to AQA with some minor tweaks with the exam techniques. At the time of posting, all relevant videos and links were active and working. As with any resources - you will benefit from some adaptations to meet the needs of your own learners and your own teaching style.
A collection of lessons that make up a unit of work focused on prejudice and discrimination - with a focus on the CRM aswell as other forms of prejudice and discrimination. As with any resource, these will need adapting to meet the needs of your learners and your own teaching style.
Although this is linked to RE - it is essentially an ethics topic with reference to religious beliefs through-out.
A unit of 9 lessons, focused on introducing the three dhammic religions (belief, practice and community). Inspiration has been taken from others. These resources will need adapting to meet the needs of your learners and your own teaching style. All links were active and correct at the time of posting. (My Life MY religion clips are available on You Tube of BBC Teach).
This is a complete set of resources that can be used to build a Buddhism Unit of Work for KS3. Inspiration has been taken from others. These resources will need to be adapted to meet the needs of your learners, and accomodate your own teaching style. All links were active and correct at time of posting.
I have put this together for mixed ability Year 8 - there is a lot of slides as I know that at my school, it will promote a lot of discussion and debate. This could easily be broken down into a market place style activity where students are gathering different bits of information. The idea of the worksheet, found on the last slide is that they will complete the first 3 questions as a starter to show prior knowledge, make some relevant notes through-out and then re-draft the same 3 questions at the end, considering discussions/learning that has taken place. I hope you can make sense of it as I am yet to write a formal lesson plan.
Simple ppt activity about Interfaith marriage, including some religious aspects. The video clips can be found at 4though.co.uk and search interfaith marriage...The lesson focuses on the skills of the students and working co-operatively to develop knowledge and demonstrate their progress. First resource I have uploaded so do leave feedback so I can improve! :-)
KS4 originally designed in connection with ITT student and later adapted. Used with Edexcel but adaptable to any exam board. Give students the opportunity to review their own performance and decide on next steps following teacher feedback.
Slide two is something I will be using with KS4 to aid their revision - I am planning to do this fortnightly to address their revision needs and next steps.
Based on the 'relationships&' scheme, this lesson looks at the difference between the 3 types of relationships, evaluating arguments for and against. Again, quite basic so can be easily adapted and should encourage co-operative learning. Please leave feedback :)
