The lesson builds up to independent writing of a diary entry using excellent adverbials and conjunctions. A model text is provided to annotate and learn from then the teacher will engage in the shared writing process before the pupils plan and write their own versions from a different Point of View.

A six-step lesson is included, offering suggestions for drama, model planning, writing and peer review. The plan includes a model text to use and annotate with the class.

Included is a song specifically written for a unit of lessons (aimed at EYFS children) on road safety. The song is to the tune of ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ so it is easy to learn. A lesson plan is included which links to the EYFS learning goals. The first activities are accessible to 2 and 3 year olds, the further activities will extend older Reception children. The plan covers music, reading and writing, drama, role play and construction.

Targetted at Upper Key Stage Two or KS3,this complete lesson plan includes a model text (from which to highlight language and text features), a planning frame, partner work and some drama and activities. The children are encouraged to build up cracking sentences verbally before they write. This lesson’s focus is on Edmund’s escape from the White Witch’s castle but it could easily be adapted to use as a model for an escape scene in alternative context.
