Escape Room for Online Friendships Sharing Videos and Photos

(0)
Venture through this ‘escape room’ as an alternative way to teach students about Online Friendships Sharing Videos and Photos. This topic can often be delivered in a dry manner due to it’s nature but turning it into an escape room brings it to life. This lesson is tried and tested and loved by the students. They work in small teams, using a white board to answer the questions in order to ‘escape’ the room (and move on to the next slide). There is a little bit of prep to do but it’s well worth it. Ideal for Y8 but could equally be delivered to Y7 or Y9. The lesson could then be adapted to most topics across a range of topics and year groups.

A lesson suitable for Y7 or Y8. Could be part of a RE topic or a general lesson to do in the run up to Christmas. It uses the website called StoryBoardThat where students can create their own comic strips. My students have loved doing this. You will need access to laptops or a computer room. Once they get going they work independently. Designed for a one hour lesson.

Well Being Weekly - a guide for students

(0)
During the first lock down I wrote thirteen weekly well being bulletins for students which were sent out each week (and also posted on our website and Face book page for parents/carers to read). They are fairly short and snappy brief guides. Each guide shares key messages, tips and ideas from professionals on how to look after ourselves. As relevant as they were back then, the messages and advice are all the same now and can be used this time around too. The issues are titled as follows: 1 Routines and Joe Wicks 2 Mental Health Tips and Timetables 3 Happiness 4 Endorphins and Connect 5 Changing the way we think 6 Mindfulness 7 Holidays and Sleep 8 Five Ways to Well Being 9 Five Ways cont 10 Mindsets 11 Growth Mindsets 12 Screen Zombies 13 Motivation On the last slide there is space for schools to add the email addresses of key members of staff (e.g. Head of Years and Safeguarding Leads)
