A lesson (single or double with extension tasks) looking at the events of 1938 -1939 with a focus on Chamberlain’s policy of appeasement. First task looks at events and second allows debate on whether appeasement was a sensible policy of not. Ends with the declaration of war

A KS3 lesson (intended as a 1 hour single) looking at Alfred the Great of Wessex. Tasks establish concept of ‘greatness’ before looking at the actions of Alfred. Pupils read and rate ‘how great’. At the end they form two interpretations looking at whether he deserved to be called ‘great’ or not.

A single lesson, first taught to Year 9, looking at the background, politics and rise of Mussolini and Stalin in the 1920s. Intended to set up the rise of HItler in a following lesson. Also looks at the basics of dictatorships and democracy and compares.

This 34 page pack included all the content from the Edexcel ‘Weimar and Nazi Germany’ paper 3. I’ve made it so that each page covers a single lesson. This means they’re easy to find and print off so they can be given to any pupils who may miss that particular lesson. At the front is a contents page with a brief description of the content in that particular lesson.

A single KS3 lesson that looks at the circumstances surrounding the murder of Archbishop Thomas Becket. Sources look at different pieces of evidence and interpretations and pupils will pull together their knowledge on a grid before writing up their conclusions. The assumption is that King Henry is responsible but pupils should see that it may not be so simple. Resources in the powerpoint. Tasks demonstrated and written task is scaffolded.
