This resource can be used either as a slideshow when delivering lessons on design periods/movements and introducing students to the more well known designers. I have printed each slide, laminated them on put them up in the workshop/graphics room as a permanent display for reference. As a starter I set students questions about each product design and they have to research and find he answers by looking at each printed slide. Can be used to start s design task by asking students to develop ideas using slides as inspiration or starting point.

This tutorial gives students an introduction to some of the common tools used in sketchup to produce a tank.I have used this with Key stage 3 and 4 students successfully. You can either guide students through each phase of the drawing or demonstrate the basic tools in sketchup before giving them the tutorial to work through independendently.

This table will help students identify what it is they need to do to achieve the next attainment level across all Design and Technology subject areas including Resistant Materials, Graphics, Food, Textiles, Systems amd Control, Product Design. The table will aslo enable teachers to identify which areas of Design and Technology students are more competent within.

Very much a work in progress. 25 Powerpoint slides of some well known designers with a little biography of each designer and samples of their work. Have put these on display around the department and set questions as starters for students to go and investigate. Have included some od the classic designers as well as a mix of contemporary designers, would like to add more female designers.

Two Point Perspective power point presentation which explains the method behind two point perspective. Describes the use of horizon lines/eye levels, vanishing points and perspective/converging lines. Uses real life examples (photographs) along with a tutorial on how to create simple two point perspective shapes and how to cut out a section from a two point perspective cube.

Drawing blocks or cubes in perspective. When viewing blocks the same size from the front view, the blocks will appear identical i.e. the same width and height. But what about drawing the same blocks in perspective - how do we ensure they are drawn so that they are constructed identical - in perspective they appear to get smaller.

The white text boxes allow teachers to specify their own text to make understanding of assessment criteria easier and also link this to the actual project or task being undertaken.

A powerpoint which attempts to develop students designing skills by providing images and words as an external stimulus. A look at where designers gained stimulus or inspiration for some of the more well known designs and creations. Students can swap design sheets and continue to develop other students design ideas.

Every now and again we get badgered into explaining or justifying how we are supporting literacy within our practical subject - This display (which I have laminated and each word cut separately and stuck around the top of my workshop).......usually keeps the clipboard posse at bay!

I decided to use the same images as the original 'Design Classics Display' but have simplified the text for mainly Key Stage 2 pupils. Intended hopefully to introduce younger pupils to popular designs and more recognizable products which may help inspire their designing tasks.
