Coin Values Matching Activity

An EYFS/KS1 coin values matching activity from Tykeoons. Pupils match each coin to its Dienes and Numicon representations — three cards per set.

Each set of three cards contains a coin, its Dienes representation and its Numicon representation. Pupils must find all three to make a complete match, reinforcing coin recognition and value through two complementary manipulative systems at once. Coins covered are 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p and 20p, with both pre- and post-2015 coin designs included.

A natural fit for EYFS and KS1 maths: coin recognition, number sense and the relationship between concrete representations all feature in a single low-preparation activity.
