A (long!) worksheet that I produced when I was getting exasperated at my group’s inability to differentiate between distance-time and velocity-time graphs that focuses on the idea of calculating gradients to work out speed/ acceleration.
I gave it to a second-bottom set. They found it difficult and a little confusing (so model it first), but I really wanted to get them to reflect on their mistakes. The results in the assessment did improve a lot. Probably more suitable for a middle ability set in hindsight.
There are a couple of harder sections at the end.

Lots of mistakes on this causing even more confusion!
I'll be honest, I needed something quick for a lesson, liked the look of this and went for it. Totally my fault! I realised after this is more investigational, and promotes potential mistakes, which is a particular approach that some might not be a fan of. I find the questions on the speed-time side odd. "Is the woman moving fastest between 0-10 or 10-40". It's not well worded, as acceleration is taking place. This kind of question would never be asked. The hard section also has several mistakes in. It says "speed-time" graph, but the graph is distance/time. I realised the title is right, the graph is wrong, because it then asks questions on acceleration which can only be done via. a velocity-time graph. Also for the sake of Maths GCSE, we should be consistent and call it velocity-time. The wording on this sheet is also odd. "You can check if you are correct by calculating the gradient". Well no you can't, you can't work out the gradient of a curved graph, you can only predict at a specific point or average it out. And would this help in answering the fact if it's constant or not? Generally I think this resource needs a lot of attention before it's given to any class.
Excellent
It excellent resource and i used it for level 3 learners as diagnostic
Thanks, this looks great!
