This is a sample Homework listening sheet on John Williams’ Imperial March, and the associated answer sheet.

This homework is suitable for Year 9 studying Film music or for the start of a GCSE course.

Pupils are required to listen to a piece of music on YouTube and answer questions relating to the given music.
Pupils can access the YouTube clip either by scanning the QR code on the homework sheet or following the link given.

The homework sheet is marked out of 10. There is an optional ‘Stretch and challenge” question at the end of each homework sheet worth 5 extra marks. This question is usually a comparison question and requires more detailed use of musical key terms.

I really like the format of this homework sheet and love that pupils can scan the QR code with their phone to access the Youtube video. The questions were pitched just right for my Year 9 class and the answer sheet was clearly laid out. Fantastic!
