Your pupils, aged 7-11, are about to embark on an amazing energy adventure! They'll journey with Wilbur the penguin, learning about fossil fuels, renewable energy and the importance of saving energy as well as discovering how smart meters - a new technology being installed in British homes - can help families become more energy efficient.

This lesson will also prepare pupils to enter the Smarter Power Competition. Budding young artists across Britain are being challenged to design a comic strip in a bid to win an energy makeover for their school worth up to £50,000 from British Gas.

The winning comic strip, which should tell a story of the entrant’s energy saving day featuring Wilbur the penguin and smart meters, will be chosen by three judges, including Nigel Parkinson, artist at the world famous comic, The Beano.

Not only does this package use engaging graphics and accurate scientific information to inform pupils about how they can help ther family become greener, but it also allows teachers to multi-task as pupils learn about how cutting-edge technology can be used in their home and about story boarding. Aside from all of this; there's a competition with terrific prizes to be won; what's not to like?
