Goyder's Line cuts across the History and Geography of the colonial era in South Australia. This opening unit introduces issues such as the role of Colonial Government; the expansion of farming; the sustainability of farming activity; issues of remoteness. It also raises debate issues for and against the line and in later topics raises issues of climate change. Other linked titles are Hard times on the Willochra Plain; Simminston; The rise and fall of Kanyaka Station. Where necessary guideline answers are provided in these units. Time would show the accuracy of Goyder's Line. From earlier ridicule with a focus on the suggestion that the Line had been drawn too far north this issue has re-appeared in the 21st century when the possibility and impact of golbal warming have some researchers suggesting that the line of demarcation may need to be redrawn further south.
