A series of lessons in PowerPoint that cover Minimalist music techniques. These lessons were originally intended for Year 8, however, can be used for any year group. The scheme of work includes:

  • Performance workshops covering a range of minimalist techniques and devices.
  • Creative workshops allowing students to develop given stimuli and/or create their own new musical ideas in small groups or using computer software.
  • Listening tasks focusing on the music of leading minimalist composers. YouTube links provided on PowerPoint slides and in the footnotes.
  • Starter activities, including rhythm activities, short tests and mix & match tasks.
  • Learning reviews at the end of each lesson to discuss student progress and understanding.

Guidance and information is provided in the footnotes in PowerPoint.
