An attractive, dyslexia friendly PowerPoint to introduce the phoneme y, which includes simple interactive features, audio, and animations. The audio featured in this resource includes the correct pronunciation of the phoneme y. This resource can be used by teachers to teach the letter y to their class or parents wanting to practice phonics with their child. Alternatively, this resource could be used by children to practice the phoneme independently.

Learning Objectives:
* To recognise the grapheme /y/ and say the phoneme.
* To segment and blend /y/ words for reading and spelling.
* To read and write a decodable sentence including /y/ words.
 
This resource includes:
* Practice of some of the previous sounds taught including audio.
* A colourful sound and picture slide to introduce y, including audio of the correct pronunciation of the phoneme.
* Animated blending and segmenting slides including audio of the sounds and words.
* An interactive real and alien word game using words beginning with y. (Good practice for the year 1 phonics check!)
* Spelling slides which give children a chance to sound out and spell simple words beginning with y.
* A simple, decodable sentence to read and write (including audio).
 
Dyslexia friendly features: easily readable font, large font size, larger line spacing to improve readability, no use of underlining or italics, dark coloured text on a cream background
