In this activity, students will examine how Sparta exercised and abused its authority over Greece in the years following the Peloponnesian War, tracing the political decisions and military campaigns that turned former allies into determined enemies. They will also explore the Battle of Leuctra and the military innovations of Epaminondas, assessing how a single engagement ended centuries of Spartan military supremacy and accelerated the city-state’s collapse.

It has 10 questions for students to answer, as well as a paragraph response section for them to demonstrate their understanding of the topic.
