Year 9 Maths Entry Test (school licence)

(0)
Know your Year 9 learners in week 1, not in May. SMART doesn’t run until Term 2, so this test gives you a common picture of every student on entry: one period, two matched versions, and a strand-by-strand profile on the five progress descriptors. What’s included: • Version A and Version B, 45 minutes each: Part A without a calculator (20 minutes) and Part B with one (25 minutes). 41 core marks on the end-of-Year-8 expectations of the New Zealand Curriculum, plus 8 optional challenge marks beyond Year 8. Word files to add your school logo and name, and print-ready PDFs. • Answers and marking notes for both versions, with what to accept, and common wrong answers with what each one suggests. • A profile for Number, Algebra, Measurement, Geometry, Statistics and Probability, judged against end-of-Year-8 expectations, with flags for who to check for support or extension, and a reading check that separates literacy from maths. • A class spreadsheet (Excel; it also opens in Google Sheets): type in the marks and it gives each student’s profile and flags, plus a class overview. • A teacher guide with five-minute follow-up prompts for flagged students. Colour and black-and-white editions. Reusable every year, with no per-student fees. Curriculum-referenced, not standardised: there are no norms or stanines, and it doesn’t replace SMART. The cut scores are a first version, and the spreadsheet lets you adjust them. School licence: every teacher and student at one school may use and copy these files, including on your school’s learning platform. Please don’t share them outside your school.
