Tasks on 3 Christmas adverts - There’s a Rang-Tan in my bedroom - Iceland, Kevin The Carrot original advert - Aldi, and The Man on the Moon - John Lewis. Tasks are around rhyme and metre in poetry, identifying persuasive techniques, and creative writing. Fun to do in the lead up to Christmas break! Have included a Kevin the Carrot narrative structure display.

Kick by Mitch Johnston novel SOW

full powerpoint of activities on each chapter and a variety of different outcomes - persuasive writing, creative writing, character development charting, and a critical essay on the development of the main character. I love teaching this novel and find it opens up dialogue about fast fashion, factory working conditions of all the pupils’ favourite brands, poverty, resilience, haemophilia and access to medical supplies in a country where medicine is not free, illegal immigration, fear and corruption, and Elvis Presley. Each chapter is named after an Elvis song, so I will often play the song as the class arrives when they are going to be starting a new chapter.

A full scheme of work - powerpoint and worksheets - on the film ‘Gorillas in the Mist’ with tasks on Camera Angles, Sound, and Lighting/Colour in film. Other tasks include close reading of texts for information and a pupil-led research task where the end outcome is an informative essay they have written themselves. Optional group presentation task as well. I have used this with S2 learners (13 year olds approx) but could be used for any learners within 11-14 age range. Works well as part of a wider topic about endangered animals or conservation.
