full powerpoint of activities on each chapter and a variety of different outcomes - persuasive writing, creative writing, character development charting, and a critical essay on the development of the main character.

I love teaching this novel and find it opens up dialogue about fast fashion, factory working conditions of all the pupils’ favourite brands, poverty, resilience, haemophilia and access to medical supplies in a country where medicine is not free, illegal immigration, fear and corruption, and Elvis Presley. Each chapter is named after an Elvis song, so I will often play the song as the class arrives when they are going to be starting a new chapter.
