Primarily aimed at the upper end of KS2 but I have used this with Year 4 and Year 7 as all files can be modified to suit different ages and abilities. The files support the practical teaching of using litmus paper to determine acid, neutral or alkaline properties. There are a number of different types of activity, all encouraging mental flexibility in the use of the 4 operations. The slides get more challenging to enable progression throughout the term / year. Aimed at a more able Year 5-6 group but could easily be adapted for different abilities.

Differentiated resource to assist learning about the planets in the solar system. Could be used as a topic starter or as an assessment. Includes: 1. Solar System master sheet, best printed out on A3. Same sheet used for all groups. 2. Differentiated sheets for 3 ability groups. Some independent research necessary for group A but this can be edited to suit. Other groups mach facts to the planet. Facts can be edited to suit lesson input.

For independent work - 2 options: Research questions to begin a topic of acids and alkalis to get the children investigating and finding out about the topic. Details to include on a group project - iPad/poster/power point etc. Best at the end of the unit of work as assessment of knowledge. Aimed at 11-14 but could easily be adapted to suit more or less able.

Work for a few lessons on Inspirational People, both historical and contemporary and male and female. Ideal for RS and/or PHSE work. Suitable for Years 5-10 but all files are editable and can be adapted to suit differing needs and abilities. Includes: -Detailed powerpoint on 10 people who have stood for something in which they believed strongly. Could be used as whole class discussion or printed off as slides for groups to feedback main points, possibly as part of a research lesson gathering extra facts. -Overview - A3 sheet showing the photographs of all 10 people. Children fill in some biographical information and try to summarise the main points of for what they stood and the hardships they faced. This is probably more suited to an older or higher ability group. -Key Themes - A4 sheet with pictures and a list of key themes. Children match the key themes to the different characters, possibly as part of a group lesson where groups are feeding back research findings. -Balloon debate cards. A fun activity where groups of children have to persuade the rest of the class why their character deserves a place in a rapidly sinking balloon, rather than being thrown over the side. The cards can be cut out, they have the photograph of the character on one side and space for notes on the back. A good introduction to debating and persuasive speaking.

7 files for work for a lesson or two on ordering and comparing decimals. Aimed at Year 4 or 5 but can be easily adapted to suit classes of different abilities. Includes: 1. Powerpoint to introduce / continue with the concept of decimal numbers. Includes starters to discuss as a class, instructions to play the games and a plenary activity. 2. Dice game to consolidate idea of decimal place value. Could be laminated and written on with whiteboard pen to allow for multiple use. 3. Includes a detailed Power Point with starter, choice of activities depending on your chemical resources, choice of worksheets and 3 plenary activities including quiz, self assessment and loop card game. Aimed at Year 5-8 but easily adaptable for any age group and ability. I have used the basic structure of the lesson with both Year 4 and Year 7 this year. Works well if you have already covered the pH scale and the use of litmus indicator but not necessary.

Includes a detailed (75 slide) powerpoint with 2 starters - revision of vertebrates and kingdoms, invertebrate details, choice of task outlines and choice of plenary activities. Aimed at 11-14 but I have used this successfully with Year 4. All files fully adaptable for children of different ages and abilities.The research task is more suitable for older children if you have the means to support independent research, the master page is best on A3 size paper. Plenary activities assess learning and understanding.

An activity to revisit some of the key aspects of early algebra, namely substitution, equations (unknown on one side and unknown on both sides), expanding brackets and forming expressions. Children can work independently or in groups, slides are printed and placed randomly around a classroom or outdoor space and children work through the questions. Each subset of 4 questions gets progressively difficult so for differentiation suggest more able children do the last two of each group (i.e qu3/4/7/8/11/12/15/16/19/20 Aimed at Yr7 middle ability but could easily be used, or adapted, for more able yr6 or as a revision activity for yr8. Resources for a lesson on the 5 Kingdoms, with a revision of the 7 Life Processes. Aimed at 11 Year olds but easily adaptable for a wide range of ages and abilities. The Power point outlines the life processes and gives details on the 5 Kingdoms. It describes the main and plenary tasks, both sheets included. Some independent research works well if you have the resources to do this and some interesting discussion can come out of it.

Resources for a lesson or two investigating the effect of Surface Area on the rate of reaction. This investigation looks at the reaction of Calcium Carbonate in Acid. Includes a detailed power point with starter activities, description of surface area and practice calculations. Choice of activities, depending on how you will carry out the experiment and a number of plenary options, including a look at increasing the surface area of a cube by breaking it up and some video clips. With less able children you could just visualise the rate of reaction, rather than accurately measuring all of the ingredients. This is detailed quite nicely on one of the clips in the plenary. Aimed at 12-14 Year olds but can be adapted for different ages and abilities. All worksheets adaptable.

3 options for a worksheet looking at the difference between the pH of metal and non-metal oxides, perhaps before moving onto work on Acid Rain. Examples and photos shown of Sulphur and common metal Hydroxides. Aimed at 11-14 age range but could easily be adapted for different ages and abilities.

Designed to follow a unit of work on Neutralisation and Salt Formation, this lesson looks at common or everyday examples of neutralisation. Power point contains salt identification starter questions, information about 5 common examples and opportunities for extension should research facilities be available. Aimed at 11-14 age group but all files easily adaptable for different abilities and ages.

Resources for a lesson on improving character description through the use of sentence openers. Aimed for upper KS2 but could easily be adapted for younger and older children. Included is a Power Point and worksheet, with printable answers and character photos should they be needed.

An activity to conclude the teaching of using the 4 operations with fractions. 19 questions of varying difficulty, testing ability in using all four operations with fractions and mixed numbers. Opportunities for cross-cancelling on some of the questions and a few helpful hints to remind. A few of the more challenging questions have squared function and knowledge of BIDMAS required. Aimed at a Year 6/7 High Ability group but could easily be adapted for use with more able younger children or less able older children, perhaps as part of a revision activity. Children can work independently or collaboratively, the question slides should be printed 2 per page, cut out and stuck around a classroom or open space, if weather permits.
