Most people have some fascination with monkeys. Just watch children when visiting a zoo. They often gravitate to areas where monkeys reside. This unit was originally developed for teachers in Australian schools but if your curriculum has units on endangered animals, human impacts on animal species, conservation and animals protection then this unit should appeal. You can alter the map to fit your country of location. The story of animal endangerment is not new and species extinction is an increasing reality. Visit the remaining area where perhaps 200 Delacour's Langurs (monkeys) survive and see why they are so endangered. Find out what is being done to try to avoid their extinction. There is an attachment provided which gives the students an opportunity to draft a plan to save the Delacour's Langur. That will find out their level of understanding of the problems. This could be used at Upper Primary level but it is probably aimed at Lower-Middle Secondary level.
