This hands-on resource supports pupils in understanding and constructing complex sentences in an engaging and interactive way. Children are given separate strips containing main clauses and subordinate clauses, which they must match to create sentences that make sense.

Once matched, pupils can enhance their sentences by adding punctuation using playdough, making the learning process tactile and memorable. They can also edit and correct capital letters using post-it notes, encouraging active editing and discussion around sentence accuracy.

This activity helps pupils develop a secure understanding of how clauses work together, while reinforcing key grammar skills such as punctuation and sentence structure. It promotes collaboration, reasoning and talk as pupils justify their choices and refine their sentences.
