A powerpoint of a lesson introducing Jazz and improvisation skills to Year 7 (could be also used with Year 8). Students are given the chance to improvise over the 12 bar blues sequence, each student having one repetition to improvise, whilst the teacher plays the sequence. Higher ability students use keyboards, less confident students use xylophones. Could be used with various chord sequences. Starter and listening tracks can be chosen by you - requires a general jazz track and a track with significant improvisation
