This is a KS3 forces scheme of work - there are 22 lessons.
National Curriculum links are given at the start of the powerpoint along with a topic overview
All worksheets are referenced and numbered. Starters are given for each lesson. Technician list is also attached. Topic list is below -

Forces Introduction

  1. Forces introduction – circus of activities to introduce the topic.
  2. Balanced and unbalanced forces
  3. Resultant forces

Weight, Mass and Compression
5/6. Weight and Mass (double lesson) – calculating the mass and weight of objects.
7/8. Hooke’s law – planning of investigation. Variables etc. concluding. Potential to calculate Hooke’s law as challenge and use line of best fit.

Floating and Sinking
10. Upthrust, floating and sinking – making a tin boat practical.
11. Density – planning and theory. Include displacement.
12. Density – calculations and practical review.

  1. Friction
    14/15. Friction – planning. To include variables, error, averages etc. Examples of cycling.
  2. Air resistance – helicopters/parachutes
    17/18. Streamlining – planning drag practical measuring cylinder drag experiment. To include use of oil/water as fluid and shape of object. Options for different practical’s.

Magnetism
21. Magnetism and magnetic fields – testing different materials (must be labelled). Link to uses of magnetic materials. Indian rope trick, also demonstration of iron fillings.
22. Magnetic fields 2 – compasses and the Earth’s magnetic field. Include Mars as example.
