Saltwater crocodiles are one of the great survivors in the annals of Australian wildlife. They survive in numbers in the mangroves of the estuaries of Vansittart Bay along the Kimberley coast. In general students are interested in the presence and the dangers of estuarine salt water crocodiles. Take them into Vansittart Bay and enter the mangroves - one of the environments frequented by the crocodiles. Find out why the mangroves thrive in this challenging environment. Go mud crabbing and encounter Eric. Recognise the ecological importance of the coastal mangroves and find out why globally many mangrove areas are under threat.
