Australia’s Tasmanian Devil is currently facing a threat of extinction. This small native animal is regarded as “an animal with attitude”. Find out about its history. Discover why it has been somewhat misunderstood. Once prevalent on the mainland of Australia the devil is now only found on Tasmania in the wild. Find out what has caused the rapid decrease in numbers since 1996. The maps and the devils themselves will explain what has happened. This is a developing story because steps to save the devils from extinction are currently be tried and tested. Your students can use the final page to consider these steps.
