How to get our students ready for the new GCSE. This lesson is a preparation for Y11 students based on the new French GCSE. Research have been made to find out what exactly our students need to do to succeed next year. This lesson should take about two weeks. The first week should be an explanation of the content of the GCSE and how to get the maximum marks and the week after students will be practising the past papers.

The starter activity is a translation ( preparing students for the new GCSE ). The purpose of this lesson is to introduce the irregular verbs in the past tense. 4 skills covered. Whole activity class: Ball game. Students have one minute to say out loud one word and pass the ball to another student ( finding out the irregular verbs in the text). If the ball touches the floor they’ve lost. Give them 3 chances only. Timer on the board... Students will come up at the end with their own rule on how to form the past tense with irregular verbs.

Consolidation lesson on past tense with Etre, best use before the assessment. Students will review what they have done so far. Starter: Writing, explain how to form the past tense with Avoir. Main: Review of MRS VAN DER TRAMP + regular and irregular verbs with Avoir + Etre Homework: Create a postcard about holidays. Students pick a country and describe what they did there.

Y8 lesson on Food. Consolidation of food items. Le / La /Les + food items. Composition of dishes.

This lesson is on the past tense using the auxiliary Avoir with regular and irregular verbs. The do it now task ( to complete in 5 mins when students entering the classroom) is a fill gap activity where students need to come up with the rule on how to form the past tense with Avoir based on the previous lesson ( Present tense and introduction of past tense ). The stater activity is translation of verbs. The main activity a whole class activity: 3 main players. Differentiated activity. Weaker abilities: Player 1 Higher abilities: Player 3 Students need to come up with the sentences and take turns, player 3 at the end can snitch other players by creating a sentence in the past tense without using the vocab above. Reward for the winner. Last activity is an assessment for learning before the plenary and homework provided.

Lesson on the past tense using Etre. Loads of fun activities to engage students on a complex grammar point. Starter: Translation Main activity: Review of MRS VAN DER TRAMP Texts appear on the board and students need to say who wrote it, a female / a male ? A group of people ? Challenge the students to think on what are the endings when having 10 000 males and one female in a group. Stand up activities and team challenge activities. Very engaging lesson ! For y8 and y9

End of term assessment based on Bébé Lilly song. You will find the song on Youtube. The first activity is a gap fill of the lyrics. The verbs conjugated in the past tense are provided on the side. Song should be played twice. In the second activity students write 3 examples of regular forms of past tense and 3 examples of irregular forms of past tense from the lyrics following the example. Then, they will turn the phrases that you have written above staring with she (don’t forget the auxiliary)... There are 5 activities on the assessment. Should require 40 min. The correction is also included in the package.

Introducing MRS VAN DER TRAMP verbs. Do it now is a translation activity ( new GCSE) + review of how to form the past tense with Avoir. Main activity: Under students' desk is placed either a card with some elements of the verb Etre and they have 70 sec. to detach it run to the board and put it in the correct order . Following the conjugation of the auxiliary, a piece of paper with MRS VAN DER TRAMP written on is hidden in the classroom, students will run to find it and have to explain what MRS VAN DER TRAMP is. At home they will complete the rule on how to form the past tense with MRS VAN DER TRAMP. This lesson worked very well and students were all engaged throughout the lesson.

First lesson on numbers in French, up to hundreds.

Lesson on weather and seasons, including adjectives and nouns. Planned for Y10 but can be adapted to KS3. Plenty of activities and animations. Challenging lesson.

Lesson for KS4 on the French educational system. I will explain clearly how the number in terms of classes in the French system works compared to the British system, what happens at the end of year 11 and does it happen in France. What happens at the end of year 10 in France and does it happen in GB and what are the advantages and disadvantages of the British and the French educational system.

Presentation to introduce the New Speaking GCSE to students. I will talk you through what to expect during the exam, how to conduct it, what are the criteria and mark scheme for students and teachers. You will also find questions to practise and themes for the general conversation.

Y9 lesson on the future tense. Do it now task is to describe a picture ( getting them ready for the speaking gcse exam ! ) by asking two questions. Students have 5 minutes to write down in books. Activity to settle them down then they share answers with the rest of the class. Conjugaison of verbs including irregulars. RAG 123 the lesson at the end. (plenary to reflect on progress, Red Amber Green and numbers for effort) Grammar lesson including homework worksheet with the correction.

Presentation on Classroom Instructions to practise with Y7 and Y8 at the beginning of each lesson to encourage TL in lessons. They repeat after you or you can ask a student to be the teacher and to conduct the instructions. No need to use English.

This lesson is based on instructions. Starter: Démêlez les expressions: séparez lesmots Students pass each other a ball and have to separate the words from the board. Extension provided + correction. Main activity: Use of you sing and plu. Drilling words. Checking for prononciation. Activity of memory and fill the gaps. + Jacque a dit... whole class activity. Plenary: Literature ( challenging) students come up with missing words on Instructions. + reflection on the lesson

Introduction of the subject to Year 7 and 8. The purpose of this lesson is to make them think, why are they learning French when knowing the most spoken language in the world ?

Lesson on describing myself with y8. Review of Etre and Avoir. Describing physical appearance. Speaking activity: This lesson include students pictures, so they can describe themselves during the lesson ( if picked )
