This unit is a case study about developments affecting the future of camel herding in the desert areas of Morocco. It can standalone or become part of a series with a focus on Morocco. It is designed so that it does not require further preparation. This unit follows by map and photograph the journey Ahmed takes from his desert pastureland via oases to the traditional camel market of Goulimine in Southern Morocco. On the way Ahmed observes a number of changes. He is made aware of the low prices for camels. He contemplates the future of the traditional lifestyle of camel-raising that has been followed by his family for generations. His worry is about CHANGE and how "the outside world" that once was and seemed remote is affecting the remote oases of Morocco and threatens his way of life. This unit provides a resource for junior to more senior secondary years.
