A (hopefully) useful resource for identifying features of a genre in UKS2. The generic nature of the sheet means that it can be used across any genre of writing and teaches children the skills they need in order to write a specific genre of their own choosing.
Resource focuses on audience and purpose of a genre, language and vocabulary, characters and motivations, settings, and structure - as well as additional space to add in own notes.
It can be used as part of classroom teaching to support English planning and story writing, or as part of a provision-based learning environment, alongside story books organised by genre, for children to access independently and write their own genre-specific stories.
