The images and text in this resource are not my own, I have just arranged them for easy printing. However, I wanted to share this because I find it really helpful for explaining to students what their analysis needs to do. I don't normally bother much with the text, but rather talk through the different stages of connections that are represented by the images, moving from basic connections, to connections that start to work together to create something (e.g. a cohesive argument), to connections that situate that creation within its wider context. Once explained to a student, I have referred to the metaphor of building a house time and again to prompt students to make deeper connections (e.g. to explain that they are describing the similarities between doors and windows, and now they need to explain how they function in a house).
