This unit begins with an aerial view of the landscape of a deep river valley in Nepal. By map and photo observation the human adaptation to the mountainous environment can be recognised. Set questions prompt observation and learning. An extension includes the explanation of oxbow lakes, abandoned river channels and meander cores. This is a stand alone activity. Most of the discussion can centre around the visual materials on the screen.
