An electromagnet is now used instead of a permanent magnet with similar effects. This is to be expected, but it is satisfying to see in action.

I really like the practical physics website as the descriptions are clear, including this one. I only find this "useful" because it is an experiment I am familiar with, but an NQT or inexperienced technician would find it more useful.
